Since 1970, Art Basel’s goal has been to connect the world's premier galleries and their patrons, as well serving as a meeting point for the international art world. Now, over forty years later, its three fairs - in Basel, Hong Kong and Miami Beach - rank as the premier shows of their kind, presenting 20th and 21st century art with a strong curatorial perspective. It is known  for showing high quality work has attracted leading international galleries and collectors, offering visitors the most important art from around the world.

In this  American show, 269 leading galleries from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa show significant works from the masters of Modern and contemporary art, as well the new generation of emerging stars. Paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs, films, and editioned works of the highest quality are on display in the main exhibition hall. Ambitious largescale artworks, films and performances become part of the city's outdoor landscape at nearby Collins Park and Sound Scape Park.

SECTORS
Art Basel's exhibition sectors are carefully defined to provide visitors the opportunity to see many different types of important works, from historical masterpieces to the work of the newest generation of artists.

269 of the world's leading Modern and contemporary art galleries display premier paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations, prints, photography, film, video, and digital art by over 4,000 artists.

Art Basel in Asia

The breakthrough 2016 edition – which placed the Hong Kong show squarely in the center of Asia’s international art scene – offered a premier platform for showing works from across the globe. Underlining its commitment to the region, half of the participating galleries once again had exhibition spaces in Asia and Asia-Pacific. The show provided an in-depth overview of the region’s diversity through both historical material and cutting-edge works by established and emerging artists.

Art Basel in Europe


The  2016 show, one of the most successful in Art Basel’s history, brought the international art world together, with more than 280 of the world's leading galleries showing the work of over 4,000 artists. A full program of art world talks took place each day. Exhibitions and events were also offered by cultural institutions in Basel and the surrounding area, creating an exciting, region-wide art week.
